Meet Oprah and Owen…two fun farm kids who are Ontario’s Farm Animal Care Specialists.

They live on farms outside of Guelph, and travel the province talking to the public about today’s farms. Come to one of the events they are at, and learn about how the food you eat is produced through trivia and fun facts. At the same time, ask them your questions about farming…you’ll be surprised at how much they can tell you.

They moved here from Texas in 2005 to help promote responsible farm animal care and share their stories of farm life with the public, and are working for Farm & Food Care Ontario.

“It’s exciting to be asked to events and help the public understand how their food is produced,” says Oprah. “As soon as I’m done one event, I’m looking forward to the next one. “

The two are both enthusiastic about the many events they attend and the people they get to meet.

“I love getting out and making new friends,” says Owen. “It’s so rewarding to go to events and talk to other kids about what I do every day on the farm.”

Oprah and Owen took a trip back to Texas during the winter of 2008-2009 to visit their family and friends, but they’re back now, and more passionate than ever.
